New evidence suggests sugar, like tobacco, is addictive and harmful to long-term health. Kelly Brownell, the dean of Duke’s Sanford School of Public Policy, says the two fights have a lot in common.
“Yes, pharmaceutical companies are charging exorbitant prices for many of their products. But patients do not receive expensive medications unless physicians prescribe them,” writes physician and behavioral scientist Peter Ubel.
During his visit Wednesday, Joe Biden said the Research Triangle Area’s teamwork demonstrates the sort of collaborative effort needed to cure cancer. “In my view, the science is ready,” Biden said.
